The Challenge

It is a collection of healthy recipes and the wisdom of Chinese culture that rely on the knowledge of the 24 solar terms to harmonise with nature. It is also a product with an educational purpose, to provide a cultural context and a different aspect of knowledge of Chinese history for the West. The core spirit of this project is about improving wellbeing, both physical and mental health. The aim of this project is to think about how to tell the story and spread the joy to the audience, and bring humanity and emotions into this.

The concept of this project focuses on recipes with Chinese herbs and eating with the seasons. It will be a set of packagings with four cardholders that refer to four seasons, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. In the contents, there will be three recipes and related Chinese herbs included within each season, in addition, the explanation of the 24 solar terms and Chinese proverbs will be introduced.

The style of design intends to present an original and authentic style with elegance. The vivid colour selections demonstrate the uplifting vibes, which connect to the topic is about to spread good vibes. I emphasized the typography of seasons on the cover design, as an attraction for people to notice it easily. The concept is designed to make the layout clearer and more user-friendly.  Looking at the cover and knowing that it’s about the seasonal eating with Chinese herbs. Additionally, I hope to give a warm sensation to bring out the spirit of the concept.
